Location Name Conrad Weiser Homestead
Location Description Originally built in 1729 of limestone and expanded in 1750 by Conrad Weiser, a merchant, diplomat and interpreter between the Pennsylvania Colony and Native American Nations. At age 16, Weiser spent a year living with the Mohawk nation where he learned the language and ways of the Mohawk and Iroquois Nations. He later was a key figure in the creation of Berks County and the city of Reading. The main house, buildings & family cemetery are surrounded by a 26 acre landscaped park.
Current Use National Historic Landmark. Open to public
